Australia’s first dedicated rescue for non-native sparrows and finches
Because their lives also matter.
An ethical alternative to euthanasia, our sanctuary provides these tiny birds with a chance to live out their lives in enriched captivity.
We have a specialised setup and are experts in caring for the following species, from the moment they first hatch from their egg, right through to adulthood:
House Sparrows (Passer domesticus)
Eurasian Tree Sparrows (Passer monatus)
European Goldfinches (Carduelis carduelis)
European Greenfinches (Chloris chloris)
We are a non-release facility.
Myth: All birds which are not native must be euthanised by a vet clinic
Fact: This only applies to species listed as Declared Pests under the Victorian Catchment and Land Protection Act (1994).
No species of sparrow, finch, myna, starling, pigeon, or blackbird is listed as a Declared Pest Animal in Victoria.
